spinach, and broccoli as well as orange and yellow
vegetables, such as carrots, squash, and yams.
Try for 2 to 2 ˝ cups of veggies every day.

Elderly Nutrition Tips And Guidelines
Eat a variety of foods. The "Food Pyramid" depicts the recommended daily servings
of the key food groups. This model suggests that we eat more breads, cereals,
fruits, and vegetables and eat less meat, dairy, and fatty foods in order
to reduce our risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity.
Balance the food you eat with regular physical activity and maintain
or improve your weight. Besides good nutrition, regular physical activity
is a powerful agent in controlling excessive weight gains that are associated
with such conditions as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.

then your full retirement age for retirement insurance benefits is 66.
If you work and are full retirement age or older, you may keep all of your benefits,
no matter how much you earn. If you are younger than full retirement age, there is
a limit to how much you can earn and still receive full Social Security benefits.
If you are younger than full retirement age during all of 2012, we must deduct $1
from your benefits for each $2 you earned above $14,640.

Many adults over 55 need help paying for prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other basic needs.
There are over 2,000 federal, state and private benefits programs available to help.
But many people don’t know these programs exist or how they can apply.
BenefitsCheckUp asks a series of questions to help identify benefits that could save you money
and cover the costs of everyday expenses.
After answering the questions, you will get a report created just for you that describes
the programs you may get help from. You can apply for many of the programs online
or you can print an application form.
I want to live in a country where
older adults don't have to choose between paying for medicine or food.
MBSSC, a not-for-profit organization, exists to serve seniors of the community

Reach Out Morongo Basin
Reach Out Morongo Basin matches volunteers with seniors and the disabled for seemingly ordinary
tasks but tasks that make a huge difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Volunteers visit, shop, help with personal business, minor home repairs and yard work.
We invite you to learn more about how volunteers are putting their faith into action
every day in our desert home, the Morongo Basin, CA.
Thanks to healthier lifestyles and advances in healthcare, many of us can expect to live longer.
But living longer increases the possibility of chronic health issues that require long term care.
Although it's one of those topics few of us like to think about, the expense involved with assisted
living, nursing home, or hospice care makes evaluating your long term care insurance needs worthwhile.

A healthy diet helps children grow and learn. It also helps prevent obesity and weight-related diseases, such as diabetes.
The following guidelines will help you give your child a nutritious diet:
Offer five servings of fruits and vegetables a day
Choose healthy sources of protein, such as lean meat, nuts and eggs
Serve whole-grain breads and cereals because they are high in fiber
Broil, grill or steam foods instead of frying them
Limit fast food and junk food
Offer water and milk instead of sugary fruit drinks and sodas
Learn about your children's nutrient requirements. Some of them,
such as the requirements for iron and calcium, change as your child ages.
Basic Nutrition For Best Results in Your Exercise Program
Eat foods that are unprocessed as much as possible.
When foods are processed they lose nutritional value.
Eating foods close to their natural state will give
you the most benefits. Try to stay away from junk food.
You know what constitutes junk food. Reducing the amount
that you eat will have a huge impact on your health and well-being.
Don't try and understand it all!
People may see all the new research about every single little nutrient and vitamin
and miracle pill that comes along and wonder how they can ever understand it all.
Don't even try because you really don't need to know it all.

MORONGO BASIN — Senior citizens are the fastest growing demographic, de-clares.
Registered Dietitian Debra Shea-Ohlfs of Twentynine Palms.. .
“As the boomers continue to age, those aged 65 to 75 will soon make up 20 percent .
of the population,” the dietitian observes. “More and more, people will be concerned .
about senior nutrition, because it’s not uncommon for older adults to lose .
interest in meal planning and cooking.”. .
Do you know a senior who makes a meal of tea and toast?
The study also found that of the six million adults over 60 in
California in 2009, more than 500,000 of them lived in poverty.
The study stated that the majority of seniors are unaware that
they qualify for the $200 monthly benefit from the federal nutritional
assistance program, CalFresh, and for a monthly $20 voucher to use at
certified farmers markets.
